Srinagar, Feb 17 (KNO): The Government on Tuesday informed the House that Rs 3,674 crore revenue has been generated from the 120 MW Sewa-II Hydroelectric Project since its inception in July 2010. Replying to an un-starred question by MLA Dr. Rameshwar Singh regarding revenue generated from the Sewa-II Hydropower Project and the amount utilized for local area development, the government, according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that the project is being operated and maintained by NHPC. The government informed that an amount of Rs 32 crore has been paid in lieu of Local Area Development Fund (LADF) since July 2010. However, it stated that there has been “nil” expenditure incurred on local area development from the generated revenue. It added that infrastructural development projects in the region are being met from the capital expenditure budget of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The government further said that 1 percent contribution towards LADF and 12 percent allocation of free power from NHPC is being utilized to meet the power purchase cost of the Union Territory, ensuring sufficient power supply at reasonable rates to consumers. It also informed that JKPCL receives a total of 13 percent free power, including LADF, from the Sewa-II Hydroelectric Project—(KNO)
